When you first open Jimnus, macOS shows a confirmation dialog: “Apple checked it for malicious software and none was detected. Are you sure you want to open it?”
Click Open. macOS remembers your choice — later launches open the app directly.

On first open you may see "Windows protected your PC." The installer isn't code-signed yet — we're working on it. The download is safe; it's the same Jimnus build you'd get on Mac.
To install
- Click More info in the SmartScreen dialog
- Click Run anyway
- The installer will proceed normally
You'll only see this the first time — future auto-updates apply silently. Signed Windows builds are coming soon.

The download is a single AppImage — no installer needed. Most desktops need it marked executable before it'll run.
Make it executable
From the download folder, run this once, then double-click or launch it:
chmod +x Jimnus*.AppImageAlternative: right-click the file → Properties → Permissions → enable "Allow executing file as program."

How do I install a .vsix?
From the Extensions view
- Open Extensions in the sidebar (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+X).
- Click the … menu at the top of the view, then Install from VSIX…
- Pick the file you just downloaded, then reload the window if prompted.
From the terminal
Run this from the folder you downloaded it into:
code --install-extension jimnus-vs-code-extension.vsixWorks the same in VS Code, Cursor, VSCodium and other forks. Updating is the same steps with a newer file.
Getting started
- Open the Jimnus panel from the activity bar, or press Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+J.
- Click Sign in — it opens your browser once and hands the session back.
- Ask something about your code, or highlight a few lines and press Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+A to add them to the chat.
Also worth knowing: Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+K edits the selection in place, and every change Jimnus makes waits for your Accept or Reject before it reaches disk.
